Climate Change Will Open Arctic Shipping Route

Climate change could lead to the creation of the first trans-Arctic shipping route ever.  The effects of global warming have melted large amounts of sea ice, thus opening up a direct course during the Arctic’s late summer, in the month of September.  Scientists believe that by the middle of the 21st century, ships will be able to navigate Arctic areas that are now inaccessible without the help of an icebreaker.  See more at Science Daily.
